Ornamental/Edible Recommended Variety List

Since 1963 the Fruit Horticulture department at WSU-Mount Vernon research station has been testing and evaluating fruit varieties for the home garden and commercial grower. The result is a comprehensive list of the tree fruits, berries, grapes and ornamentals that are well adapted to grow well and produce high quality fruit in the cool maritime climate conditions of western Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.

In that same period, nurseries in the Pacific Northwest and in other areas of the country with similar climate problems have increasingly specialized in propagating and selling varieties that are proven to do well in these conditions.

This listing includes the top rated fruit and berry varieties, and where to find them.
